I have forgotten my passcode to my HTC Wildfire S and I have been doing some research and the only way I have come up with for getting back into it is through a factory reset.

It does not give me an option to log in with my Google account, I don't know why, I think it might be that I have old software?

Although this is a disadvantage I do remember that there was an old code that you could put in using the emergency caller (?) that would unlock a phone, which was changed with new software versions. So I think that because I evidently have older software it might still work? I just don't know what the code was, so if anyone could remember that would be great :). It might not even work but it's worth a try.

If it doesn't work, what will I lose with a factory reset? Thanks for anything
