I have a Moto G (2nd Generation) with Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop) which I updated to last night.

How does one hide or keep one's private Gmail address from appearing in Gmail lockscreen notifications?

Should phone ever be stolen, I don't want my private Gmail address to appear in notifications.

In this example picture off the Lollipop marketing site, see how it says hikingfan@gmail.com in the Gmail notification? I want that part kept private! I don't want an email address to appear. I just want to see the number of new emails that have arrived.

  • @bummi it's not his email address. It's a sample Lollipop screenshot by Google, so nothing is compromised. – Andrew T. Feb 16 '15 at 2:01
  • There's a good information on this post's answer. That answer will help you hiding the address by using "Show all notifications" with Gmail set as "Sensitive" (though I'm not sure if it will hide the number of new emails or not). – Andrew T. Feb 16 '15 at 2:13
  • Bummer, it seems that all info will be hidden when setting the app as "Sensitive", including the count of new mails. I guess it's impossible to do what OP wants... – Andrew T. Feb 16 '15 at 3:05
