Rendering Tamil characters is a challenge as there is no one glyph to one character mapping as in English.
Earlier versions of Android (before 4.1) does not have this support natively. Which means unless the manufacturer or the author of the ROM decides to additional support, Tamil characters cannot be rendered properly. There were few hacks which helped ...
The same thing happened to me over a year ago. My contacts are still messed up because I noticed the problem only over a month after it had happened and I had also done enough changes on both my phone and Google web that I didn't dare trying a roll back to a backup that I had taken myself. So, I've just lived with it and cleaned up the contacts as I've run ...
You have done half the work.
By this query we can understand that this new Google's people details sync should be turned off too together with Google contacts as this new service connecting you with others via some other platforms such as Google+.
Follow these steps:
Go to Contacts app-Open contact's settings(by touching 3 dots on the upper right corner)-...
Just tested this on my phone and my gmail, and it seems to work. I'm running 4.4 with the stock Contacts app on my phone.
On your phone, in the Contacts app: menu button -> import/export contacts
Choose export to storage and it will create a .vcf file to /storage/emulated/0/ which is the root folder for storage
Transfer this file via email, or usb to a ...
As MemCtrl mentioned, go to http://contacts.google.com and see if your contacts (with the new numbers) are there. If not, you can restore them using "Restore contacts..." option (hit the "More..." button to see it), provided they weren't deleted more than 30 days ago.
For those asking for a clearer, illustrated answer:
Click on the (+) New conversation
On the right hand of the search box, click on the really-nonobviously-a-modality-switch phone icon:
Search will now be limited to your Google contacts.
Presumably some designer made a bizarre choice to use a phone call icon to represent the phone address book.
Instead, immediately after clicking the magnifying glass icon, and before typing in your search, you must then click the small telephone handset icon to search for a contact to call or text. Then, enter the name to search. This will then search your own contacts list and show your contacts with their phone numbers.
Why that complicated? There's no Xprivacy or other tool required to prevent your device from syncing contacts with Google. It's rather a question of your settings:
If on account creation you decided to "Backup your data with Google", you might want to re-consider this, as this might include more personal data than just your contacts
in Settings→Accounts &...
I might be a little late, but still, at least for google.
I had the very same problem recently, some whatsapp contacts were separate from original (google / device / doesn't matter). Manual join did not work - phone said contacts joined but they did not.
After some fiddling I found a solution thet worked for me in all cases.
Problem was in phone number ...
Just with one account also you can achieve this.
In contacts app, go to menu and create a new label like "Archive"
Tap on label and add contacts.
From menu go to settings, and in "contacts to display" select customized, and expand your google account, now here all labels will be shown. Select all labels except Archive.
Now contacts moved to Archive label ...
The name of the caller will not be identified if the contact is hidden in Google Contacts.
The contact will be removed from the contacts list in the stock Samsung contacts app.
I tested this by calling my mobile with my work phone. I hid my work phone number in contacts.gooogle.com, and I also had to remove the number from my personal information in my ...
I cant find that option in my Nexus 7. It seems they have removed this in Jellybean or Kitkat. This is what i do.
Settings>Apps>All> Contacts> Clear data, clear cache
Settings>Apps>All> Contacts Storage > Clear data, clear cache
This will clear all the database of the People app.
Another way to do it is by merging it with your Google account. Here is how to do it:
Open contacts, hit menu, then select Merge Accounts
Now choose Merge with Google option.
If you have Sync enabled, then all those contacts will start getting uploaded to your gmail account one by one. If not, open Accounts and Sync and hit Sync now.
For screenshots and ...
Remember: when creating a contact, you can decide where to store it. Usually, there are at least 3 choices: Google, SIM, phone.
If I read your question correctly, it looks like you have a copy in each of these places. In this case, Tirath's suggestion doesn't work, as GMail will only see what's sync'd there (and phone + SIM don't get sync'd). You then might ...
Buy Redmi phones. It has pre installed Tamil language. I am using that phone only.Or else Flash phone with Cyanogen or MiUi mod. But it will tamper your phone warranty. Do it at your own risk. The best Tamil keyboard i know is Sellinam. Currently i am using that keyboard app only.
தங்கள் கேள்விக்கான விடை கிடைத்திருக்கும் என நம்புகிறேன்.

Note: Please take a backup of all your Google contacts using the old Google contacts website either as a Google .csv file or .vcf format before trying this and use an app like Super Backup : SMS & Contacts for exporting your phone contacts just in case.
As I've already mentioned in my comments you can try this,
First take a backup of all your google ...
Go to People section in Google Play Store:
And unfollow everyone there.
If that doesn't help, go to Settings->Applications. Remove access to Contacts for Google Play Store, clean its Data and Cache, and reboot your device.
If that doesn't help, do the same for Google Play Services.
If that doesn't help, I doubt there is much you can do left. Google Play ...
On Android devices without an option to save contacts locally (either to the phone or the SIM), you can use FJ Software's MyLocalAccount (which you can choose to sync to your Google account or not as you wish).
Yes it is possible. You can choose what items to sync in the account settings. The option might be relocated slightly, but you'll ideally find it at the following location. I'm including a screenshot for reference.
Settings > Users & Accounts > Your Google Account > Account sync.
Here turn off the toggle for Contacts.
Contacts from this account will ...
Most of the contacts backup apps lack one feature or the other e.g. they don't backup high resolution photo when creating .vcf file. So I prefer CLI method to extract contacts data directly from database file using some scripting, but it requires root. That's how I do scheduled back up of my contacts without Google account.
The following script doesn't save ...

select All contacts radio button to export all your contacts
What you really need to do is go here Google Contacts.Log-in with your account from which you want to delete contacts and then delete any contact you want from here.
Once deleted from here, they'll be deleted from everywhere.
