Reboot into recovery, where you can select the option to factory reset (scroll up/down with the volume keys, use power to select). Two ways to get into recovery: Install the Android SDK on your computer and run adb reboot recovery Power off the phone, hold down both volume buttons and (while holding) click the power button. Release the volume buttons when ...

You should call your carrier in the UK and explain that you need to unlock your phone because you are travelling. Unless they're being particularly unhelpful a carrier will normally give you the unlock code for that purpose. Edit: It looks like the unlock code may be stored on the device and accessible as with many Galaxy phones, most easily if you are ...

Rather than using Handcent, which is quite bulky, slow and doesn't really add any new features to the stock SMS application provided by Android, I recommend BigSMS. It's a free application that provides you with a simple, yet powerful interface that allows you to send unlimited length SMS. It doesn't claim to be big or clever, it is simply a solution to ...

CyanogenMod is not permitted to redistribute Google's proprietary apps packaged with the ROM, but they make them available separately. As long as you download and flash the latest Google Apps package from your recovery system, you can continue to use the Market as you normally would. The newest versions of CM are (according to the wiki, anyway) designed to ...

Some versions of CyanogenMod have the “Volume rocker” option in Settings → Display; if this option is selected, volume buttons will wake up the phone. There are also other ways to get this behavior (e.g., the GravityBox module for Xposed has the “Volume rocker wake” option in the “Navigation keys actions” screen).

Without the encryption key, you won't be able to decrypt the files on the SD card. Your only option, in this case, is to format the SD card and start over. The idea of encryption is that nobody can access your files without the encryption key. In the case of Android, your encryption key is NOT the password you use to unlock the device. That password is just ...

The error you get is via Kies and relates to the PC that is running the Kies - it checks to see if you have 3GB of space on it (do not know why). It does not relate to the space on the phone internal memory.

Are you rooted? Check in WiFi advanced settings that port/proxy settings are blank or as required by the router. UPDATE: Converting comment to answer.

Yeah nowadays it's very easy to get a phone unlocked and get rid of excessive roaming charges and get the freedom to change network provider. Recently I unlocked my cellphone, not Samsung but Blackberry, in something like 3-4 hours. Lots of vendors can do it like codes2unlock and myphoneunlock, you could try it.

Turn off any Battery saver app, As I selected the wifi sleep mode to NEVER, but it kept switching off, I then uninstalled the Battery saver app .. Voila now skype works un-interrupted.

You could uninstall Kies and the drivers completely, and then install the UK version of Kies from here. (Make sure to select the UK as your location during install). This should allow you to perform the update, although it might not give you the language you want. This worked for me to get Froyo on my Vibrant before it was released in the US. ...

I had the same issue with 2 Galaxy Mini. No matter what I tried, the USB notification did not appear when connecting the USB cable to 3 different ports in 2 PCs. Solution: Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging: enable Changed the USB cable; maybe it had good fabric, but it was faulty. With a new cable and the point 1., the USB ...

I don't know whether Samsung includes an own solution -- but there are several Apps available on the playstore which can work with Exchange: K-9 Mail probably is the most popular mail app. It supports Exchange via WebDAV. TouchDown for Smartphones is said to work very well with EAS, and syncs emails, contacts, calendar and tasks with your Android device ...
