Google blocks apps from (mis)using Call Log and/or SMS permissions if they are not the core functionalities of the apps, with some exceptions and alternatives.
SMS (termux-sms-list and termux-sms-send) and Call Log (termux-call-log) are not the main purpose of Termux:API app, thus the developer had to remove the permissions to prevent the app from being ...
Yes you can, by using smartlock.
It should be located under security and lock screen.
Click on smart lock then voice match and turn on:
Access with voice match
And lock screen personal results.
However this may let you read earlier messages and will not restrain it to only selected contacts
I was also looking for the same but literally there is no such option.
However, what Samsung's Official site suggests to do it, is:
If you would prefer to use another browser as default from the messaging app - you can try searching the Google Play Store to download another messaging application. The Android Messages app, for example, defaults to open ...
There are two ways you can do null checking of Java objects.
The first way, direct from the userguide, is checking of the object Equals null:
A Java object can be directly referenced in a condition. Null-value objects are replaced with text representation null.
If, arr eq 45
If, arr.length > 3
If, lightlevel Equals ...
I had the same issue, turns out the problem was due to my mobile balance. I had unlimited recharge package which always showed 0 balance hence the messages were not going out for these kind of numbers that are chargeable. I recharged my mobile and voila, the message got sent.
You should be able to revoke that permission from that app by going into Settings app, into All apps or something similar that shows installed apps list, use a toggle if system apps are not shown by default (usually from a three dot line in the top section, towards right and below status bar on the screen). Click on the entry of your message app, go into ...
Looks like this is an issue specific to Freedom Mobile users happening since May 9, 2019. Possibly caused by a software update from Freedom around that time, it appears to affect Google Phone (beta) users with Visual Voicemail enabled.
There is a thread on Google's official support for Pixel Phone, which mentions the same issue about some ...
It's been suggested I post what I did. Note this is for a partly working screen (i.e. some regions detect touch, some do not). There are answers for a completely broken screen here: How do I backup data (SMS/contacts) from a device with a broken screen?
Anyway, what I did:
Download Vysor to my (Mac) computer. (And "Android File Transfer" if it's not there ...
Yes this did used to be possible, it is still possible but it requires more on the target device these days.
On below Android 5.0 , it was easy to do what you're saying, however it started to become apparent very quickly that the majority of people did not use this for its intended purpose...
For example, you could previously check on elderly people's ...
Google push notifications are handled differently than SMS. AFAIK only Google Play Services app has access to all push notifications (as it receives them). Therefore getting those push notifications would require to inject code into Google Play Services, e.g. in form of an XPosed module (requires rooted device + (ed)Xposed installed).
BTW: The push ...
I have a Galaxy Note 9 and a Galaxy watch and I use Yaata SMS.
You don't get any extra features that you would get in the 3rd party SMS app but you can still read and reply to text messages the same as you can with the default app.
It could be related to many things on Android, but most likely it is one of two things based on the nature of it's content.
SMS Remote Control Message
Malicious applications can receive command messages and do specific actions based on that command, it may be an application that is being controlled via SMS command...
Back before Android 5.0 day's, SMS ...
If someone has made malware and have installed it in your phone this message can mean anything. I can't see any other reason for someone to send such a strange SMS. It may be an alternative of a C&C server. Don't respond to it as it may be some kind of scam and charge you but if I were you I would run a malware scan.
Now, I finally can send SMS through the command line on an Android 8.0-oreo performing next steps:
Installing the ShellMS app on the phone (once for ever)
Going on the phone to Settings > Apps > ShellMS > Permissions > Enable all the permissions (once for ever). This step will no longer be necessary once an issue about permissions will be fixed
A single SMS can hold up to 160 characters. But that's only for text.
Since smartphones make a lot of use of emojis, the SMS cannot hold 160 characters anymore if you include an emoji. AFAIK, the default emoji (smiley) will take 2 characters, but the one with a custom skin tone can take 4 characters. Similarly, it varies from device to device and what kind ...
For disabling first notifications (i.e. the one that appears on the phone when it is connected to PC) one must:
tap such notification (or select Messages for web from three-dot menu in Messages application),
tap three-dots menu and select Notifications and
uncheck Show presistent notification option.
As for disabling second notifications (i.e. the one ...
The "Messages for web" feature works only with the Messages app created by Google.
The LG V20 runs a custom version of Android with a customized user interface. It is not the stock version of Android using only standard Google apps as is shipped on, for example, Google Pixel devices. The manufacturer (LG) will customize and add more features to ...
You can bridge WhatsApp to Matrix using mautrix which can be bridged to other serives like email. It is unfortunatley quite the hacky setup:
Have a Synapse or another Matrix server
Run an Android VM to run WhatsApp
Run the mautrix bridge
Run another bridge, e.g. this one, to bridge to email or wherever desired.
Does one have to go through "create a new contact" through the + menu, or is there any faster way?
You can copy the phone number without selecting "Create a new contact". I don't know if there is a faster way but here is how to do it:
On the default messaging app, open the text message (SMS) whose phone number you want to copy.
Click the 3-dot, then "...
In addition to the answer above, it looks like anything interfering with the Google Fi app can also cause the problem.
This started happening on my kids' phones (Nexus 6P and Google Pixel) because I had blocked access to the Google Fi app using the Family Link app since I didn't see any reason why they needed to have access to it.
To fix it, open the ...
Had the same problem. Took me a bit to figure it out.
Go to messages, tap on the thread for that contact, tap on their name in the top left corner, this will take you to conversation settings, turn notifications on.
There's a possibility that the short number/code hasn't been registered by the operator.
There are 2 similar cases happen with different operator:
Why won't my phone allow me to send an SMS to a 5 digit number? It keeps telling me error 28 try again. I only activated my SIM card on Saturday.
Not all, if any, short codes are ...
