Default ringtones are usually stored in /system/media/audio/ringtones. You might be able to access this location using a file manager. Keep in mind that, residing on /system, this place is read-only at best without root-access: so while you should be able to copy from here, you cannot place any files into this directory. If you want to manually add ...

By looking at the inf file, you can find that it tells to use the WinUSB driver. So there is a better solution than disabling driver signature enforcement, you can use the tool Zadig (http://zadig.akeo.ie/). This tools create a self-signed inf for this specific device, using ephemeral keys, added to the trusted certificate store (for this only device / inf), ...

That's not an Airpush ad. Also, these kind of ads are forbidden by the Google Playstore TOS. Always pointing to the same app suggests another app from the same developer placing it, not an ad module. I'd first check which apps are running when this happens (Settings→Apps, select the corresponding tab). See if there are "non-essential" apps listed which you ...

There are actually three types of dual SIM phones. Dual SIM Standby (DSS): Only one SIM can be used at a time, 1 radio chip. The phone has single IMEI number. Dual SIM Dual Standby (DSDS): Two SIMs can be used at a time, but if one opens a call or data connection, the other is offline. The phone has two different IMEI numbers. This has happened to me on several occasions, mostly when backing up/restoring Wifi settings using an app such as TitaniumBackup. Here's what I recommend, starting with the safest solutions: First try going into the wifi settings and removing the problematic network. While you're there you might as well remove any other unused networks: https://support....

I found the solution myself: Windows 10 somehow does not want to install the driver, as it can not verify the manufacturer. So the driver from Sony Developer's site works just fine. After deactivating the Windows driver signature check everything works fine. To deactivate proceed like this: (taken from HERE) Press Win + X then U then Shift + R ...

I'm sure some of the solutions that were mentioned here will work for other people but unfortunately, the only solution that worked for me was a hardware solution. I took my phone to a lab and they pressed the screen to the back of the phone with some extra glue. After 24 hours the phone was good as new. As a programmer I was disappointed that no software ...

Since you don't have a dialer app in the tablet, Ali Kabiri's answer can't be directly used. But there's a way to get into a mode where you can enter these "service codes". See this blog post for images. Open the Contacts app Exit the initial setup if it pops up Go to Menu -> Settings Long-press the blank space in the bottom of the screen, in the middle (...

That symbol isn't Android-specific: it's the symbol for a hearing aid induction loop. Some landline telephones have an induction loop that transmits the phone audio directly to the hearing aid, so that hearing aid users can hear the phone call better than they would otherwise. The T stands for "telephone": because the induction loop system originated on ...

Not all phones support hotword detection being on all the time (i.e. "OK Google" from any screen). The phone needs a lower-power co-processor, to avoid running down the battery by keeping the processor running at full power all the time just processing sounds. It's up to the system integrator (the people who compile Android for the phone) to set whether this ...

As a workaround you could sideload the last Google Play Services app. You can check your version under Settings > Apps > All tab > Google Play Services. Here in the Google Play Store you will find the latest version number or alternatively here at Google with some more in-depth info. As a resource you could try and trust (hopefully) androidpolice.com and ...

Answering own question in case anybody else has the same issue. There is another file /system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl that contained the mapping for the power button. The Android docs say never to modify this file but I did anyway. Commenting out the power button line in this file has solved my issue (power button stuck in) and I'm now using my volume up ...

From the Sony Mobile site there doesn't seem to be a file manager included in Sony's ROM. However, many excellent file managers are available on the Play Store. I personally use ES File Exploerer for many years now and it is excellent. Astro file manager is also very popular. Here's a search for many, many more posibilities

.ftf are more suited for the older line of Xperia devices and is proprietary format, the trend with newer Sony devices is .elf instead. Their layout of kernel image is non-standard, this requires a special script to run against the freshly built kernel image to convert it and add extra special markers to make it compatible for the Xperia to enable booting. ...

in my experience the phone worked really well except for the camera. To take photos I used Google stock camera, shots usually came out distorted (HDR unusable) and except when in perfect light conditions photos where bad, also audio recording of any kind (voice or video) was impossible to achieve. So finally I went back to Sony ROM ... but feels outdated and ...

There's a setting for that in the Camera App, which lets you toggle the default save location. You need to scroll down for it, though, and that's not very obvious. But, there is a setting for that.

I had a similar problem a few years ago with my old HTC EVO 3D which was also running cyanogenmod at this time. I tried flashing different roms and kernels but the problem was persistent. Because my battery was empty as yours is at the moment, I charged it by cutting a USB Cable and applying "+" and "-" to the battery directly. It looked really bad to be ...

The only way I managed to work around this issue with Macrodroid was to: put the trigger to volume button (up) put the action to reject call. So when I make/receive a call, I can end it with volume up button. Works on Z3 Compact.

Turning OFF your screen via widget is possible (and several widgets are available for that). But turning ON the screen cannot work that way, as to access the widget, it must already be turned on. Of course you could use a lockscreen permitting widgets (like C Locker Pro). An alternative is using tasker, and defining a corresponding profile: Condition: ...

I believe I have tracked this to an app. Three In Touch (version 3.4.5) is a pre-installed VOIP app from the service provider (Three) that uses Wi-Fi to route calls if there is limited signal. After disabling this app the volume drop went away and re-enabling it has brought it back. This is unfortunate as the app is otherwise very useful.

As I understand it, if you root your Z2 by unlocking the bootloader via Sony's official method, it will permanently blow away the phone's DRM keys. If you root your Z2 via a non-Sony-sanctioned exploit, you can back up the partition with the DRM keys first & can theoretically restore it at some later time (no hard guarantees, but at least it's a ...

TL;DR: There's no danger in plugging a USB device into a charger with a higher amp rating than the one supplied with it. For mobile devices that use USB chargers, the difference between using chargers with different amp ratings in most cases is that the device will charge faster or slower, in direct proportion the the amp rating. In some cases, the ...
