I agree, but right it defeats the purpose of having nearly full screen album art. It is a terrible design decision, and it is unfortunate such a workaround is required. Personally I wouldn't accept anything less than at least the displayed resolution, but of course you can can experiment to see if there's any benefit with intermediate sized images. I've simply put this answer out there for those that were equally frustrated with the low quality.
