How can I transfer photos to my Android Jelly Bean device while preserving the original time...
Use PTP instead of MTP when connecting your phone by USB.
It works for me, I use a Samsung Note 4 connected to Ubuntu 14.04 machine.
However, connecting as PTP only allows copying of pictures/images.
