Is it possible to customize my Android device (in this case, Samsung Galaxy S2) to not have a home screen, but only the app drawer?

If I can give example, it would be an iOS; you unlock and you are instantly on applications. The reason for this is I don't really use widgets at all, and I don't see the point in having a home screen only for apps shortcuts if I would have only menu (app drawer).

  • All the ROMs and launchers I've used allow apps right on the home screen. Commented Jul 6, 2011 at 23:37
  • Almost every launcher allows adding apps from Drawer to the home screen. What I want is not having to add apps to home screen: installed apps appear right on home screen like on iPhone and can be managed from there.

  • Ah, got it. I'm sure there's an app that will copy them all with one click, but I understand why not needing to deal with that at all would be better. Commented Jul 7, 2011 at 0:37
  • Try this forum titled "iPhone Launcher and apps". credit to amitmiz (: Warning: it is slightly laggy but its as close to imitating the iPhone launcher as I've seen.

Espier Launcher might be the closest thing you can get to an "iOS experience".

I gave it a test run, it does not have an app drawer... It's pretty much exactly like iOS.

Note: Espier Launcher is no longer available in Play Store since 2013.

You can give the MIUI ROM a go, see http://en.miui.com/.

I feel that is sort of the iPhone feel ROM for Android. No app drawer, newly installed apps get put onto the next available space on your screens, folders to organise, etc. Even the settings look iPhone-ish.

Thanks, will give it a try later. I don't need the iPhone look, I just want the home screen to behave like iPhone, it's much easier and simpler concept to understand than the app drawer thing.

  • @Lamnk He says there's no app drawer and the installed apps get on the homescreen itself.. isnt this the answer you are looking for?

  • From what he describes then yes it is. However I must try it first hand to find out.

My just-released TinyLaunch is a tiny PalmOS-style launcher that just shows a (categorizable) list of apps.
